Ever been stuck behind that 1 ball that is keeping you from winning a game of billiards? A couple solutions to this problem can be banking the ball of the side rails, or taking out the middle man and hopping the ball over. Ball hopping is a very difficult thing to figure out when you are not used to doing it. You have to make sure that your cue stick is placed right in between the ball and the table and that the higher you need to go, the greater the angle of your cue stick. So in an example, when you’re stuck behind that stripe your opponent has left and the 8 ball is sitting on the lip of the corner pocket, just aim carefully and put the perfect amount of height on the jump as well as a little backspin to stop the ball from possibly scratching. It sounds hard but in the long run, if you can get it down, you can master these hard situations without the middle man needed.

How often is it that when you play a game of 9-ball you can take out 8 balls in a row but just can’t finish off the streak with the 9th ball. Its so frustrating but I have a few tips that may help you in your 9-ball game in the bars against a stranger, or even at home against your friends. One thing that you have to do is make sure if you get those 8 balls in a row, be aware of just where you’ll need to set up for the 9 ball at the end. Don’t try to make a fancy shot cross table if you don’t have to. Another thing that you can do is sacrifice a shot early. It sounds stupid, but you can always try to throw off your opponent by sinking 2 balls then missing one on purpose to get him into the game and onto the table. To make this really effective you have to remember that it will help you even more if you can place the ball in a very awkward position, especially if it is in a position where your opponent may knock the 9-ball in, giving you the free win. Hopefully these couple of tips can help you out in your 9-ball game and maybe, just maybe one day you’ll be on tv or even in the bar racking up extra dollars with your new techniques.
