Maintaining Your Custom Cue

Having a custom pool cue is a serious investment in order to play the game. Any type of investment that’s worth having is worth keeping. You will have to invest in pool cue maintenance if you wish to keep the pool cue around for a while. This type of maintenance is simple to do. If you do it on a regular basis, you will be guaranteed to have it for the long run.

You must make sure that the custom cue and the parts that go with it are always clean. To help in this effort, make sure to wash your hands prior to playing and every 60 minutes of playing. Doing it this way will not only keep the cue shiny, but it will also cut down on the dirt that could get on the shaft. You must also keep the pool cue free from moisture and humidity. The wood material won’t warp as fast.

You must constantly shape and scuff the cue tip after you have started using the pool cue. You can do this the way that works best for you. Most players will shape the cue tip in a round format. When it is scuffed, the cue can withstand chalk for a longer period of time. This means it doesn’t require a lot of scuffing. However, if there is a miscue while you’re shooting, you may have to scuff your cue tip some more.

You will also have to include the ferrule. This part does not need much maintenance. You just remove chalk that has accumulated while you were playing the game. It may be a simple as removing the chalk with one or two wipes. Or you may have to do more than that. It depends on how much chalk residue is on the ferrule. With pool cue maintenance, the ferrule can be made from different types of material. You may have to contact the cue manufacturer to see how the material should be cleaned.

As you play with the pool cue, it’s important that you don’t flex the shaft potion of it toward the cloth. You should not place your weight on the shaft as you’re waiting for your turn. Also, do not strike the cue due to a bad shot you made. If you’re playing for a long period of time, you may want to implement pool cue maintenance on this by rubbing it down after each time you use it. The best thing to use for this is either a brown paper napkin or a small piece of leather.

Another part of pool cue maintenance involves the butt. The butt is about the easiest part of the cue to deal with. Use a cloth that is clean and soft to help you do the job. That’s all that is needed. The custom cue will have to be replaced every now and then. The good thing about this is that it doesn’t cost a lot to do it. Because of that, there is no need to get cleaners for the pool cue.

Keeping up with doing these tasks is important for the longevity of the pool cue. Not only that, you will be able to play better games with proper pool cue maintenance.
